Name: Sony Pocket Bit Mini
Category: USB memory
Price: Open Price
Release date in Japan: December 1, 2006

The Gist: At 1.5 grams apiece, you probably won't even
remember you're carrying one of Sony's latest "Pocket Bit
Mini" USB memory devices. And they aren't much larger than
the USB port itself.

Available in capacities from 256MB to 2GB at estimated
prices from 2,700 yen to 9,000 yen, the Pocket Bit Mini
USB memory devices are color coded: 256MB is orange, 512MB is purple,
1GB is blue, and 2GB is green.

Included with each is a small soft case that also allows you
to clip the device to notebook, pocket, or whatever you
please. "Virtual Extender" file compression software for
Windows 2000/XP is also preloaded on each.

Name: Buffalo BOMU-W24A/BL
Category: PC peripheral
Price: 20,769 yen
Release date in Japan: Late November 2006

The Gist: The BOMU-W24A/BL is a hybrid wireless mouse
combining an 800dpi optical sensor with a gyroscopic
sensor to provider users with two usage scenarios: on your
desk or in the air.

On your desk, the mouse acts as a standard optical wireless
mouse, with its 800dpi resolution and USB 2.0 interface. In
the air, the gyroscopic sensor inside the mouse will read
how it moves through the air: up, down, left, or right. Such
a feature should be handy for presentations, especially
considering the included "Gyrotool" software allows you
to assign each of the mouse's 4 buttons to a different
function.

The W24A/BL has an integrated NiMH battery that offers 96
hours of continued lifetime, and even after that's over,
you can recharge it in about 9 hours. The range is roughly
10 meters.

Name: Thanko MP4 Watch
Category: Portable audio/video
Price: 1GB: 14,800 yen, 2GB: 18,800 yen
Release date in Japan: Already available

The Gist: If you thought you saw the end of MP3 playing
watches, think again; Thanko is back with a vengeance in
the form of the "MP4 Watch."

The MP4 Watch does of course play MP3 and WMA audio files
-- it has 1GB or 2GB of capacity depending on your needs.
Plenty of standard audio playing features are available,
such as repeat, shuffle, and voice recording. But the watch's
real claim to fame is its 1.5" color display with a resolution
of 128 x 128 dots. Coupled with support for a proprietary
video format (NVX; use the included software), the emergence
of an entirely new kind of MP3 watch is apparent.
No longer are users satisfied with audio alone.

The battery life is a bit of a downer, sitting at 7 hours
of audio playback or 4 hours of video playback. But if you
absolutely need video playback on your wrist at all times,
look no further than Thanko's new MP4 Watch.
