Microsoft manages knowledge Microsoft has released its Site Server 3.0, a strategic Web business application, which offers interactive sales promotion and marketing analysis from user access information from the site's access logs and custom data. It also allows the user to change Intranet content over the Internet. Site Server uses powerful search and retrieval functions to deliver filtered information from Web servers, file servers, and local SQL databases, and features push technology, XML and EDIINT protocols. Many of the features have been incorporates feedback from previous Site Server users. The retail price is open.

NEC Workstation NEC has released the Express 5800/53Wa, a workstation featuring a 300MHz Pentium II processor, an Intel 440BX AGPSet chipset, and 64MB of SDRAM which is expandable to 384MB. It also comes with RAS (Reliability and Serviceability) functions which control the hardware temperature, fan, processor and offers security and remote maintenance services. The unit comes with either an NEC 3D graphics accelerator TE3VL or Diamond Multimedia's FireGL1000Pro. Retail price is \398,000. .

Sony Digital Cameras Sony has released the Digital Mavica MVC-FD71 and FD51, 380,000-pixel CCD digital steel-cased cameras with 3.5 inch floppy disks. Both models come with two floppy disk drives and fast image processing RISC microcomputers, which speed up write times by 60% (40% for the MVC-FD51) compared to previous models. Captured images can be recorded in just four seconds (six for the FD-51). A diminutive FDD and smaller zoom lens decreases the unit weight by 20% (for the FD-71 only). In standard mode both models can store 25 to 40 images per floppy disk, recorded in JPEG format. The battery lasts up to 2.5 hours (equivalent to 2,000 images, MVC-FD71). Notebook PC from Gateway 2K Gateway 2000 Japan has announced the Gateway Solo 9100LS, which features a 266MHz MMX Pentium processor. It comes with 32MB DRAM, 5GB hard drive, Intel's mobile 440BX chip set and a 14.1 inch XGA Active Matrix TFT display. Retail price is \479,800 (consumption tax included).

New Translation Package from Fujitsu Fujitsu has released the Atlas V5 Doublepack, an English-to-Japanese and Japanese-to-English translation software in one package. It comes with a dictionary covering 24 specialties, each with 100 to 2,500 more words than the previous version. The basic dictionary also carries 64,000 more words than the previous version. It supports MS-Word 98, and translates sentences from charts and documents with special formats. It retails for \58,000. .
