July's Online Extras

July is interview month in the "Online Extras" section of the Computing Japan website (http://www. cjmag.co.jp).

Online extras" is a virtual extension of Computing Japan: the place on our website where we publish features that got squeezed out of the paper magazine. At least one of our online extras each month is always available for immediate public viewing. Others go first into our Subscribers-Only area, and just like the full online version of the paper magazine are opened to public access after a three-month delay. If you are a current Computing Japan subscriber, you can receive your free Subscribers-Only password by simply requesting one online.

  • Our Public-Access feature for July is an interview with Olli-Pekka Lintula, general manager, wireless data, of Nokia Japan KK. This interview with Mr. Lintula focuses on cellular technologies and Japan's market forces as well as Nokia's innovative products. It nicely complements this month's magazine interview with Olav Stang, president of Nokia Mobile Phones KK. (See "Connecting With Japan's Cellular Future" )

  • "Mondex Japan"
An interview with Michael Keegan, CEO of Mondex International, a leading player in the global electronic commerce market. MasterCard International now owns 51% of Mondex International, which is sure to have an effect on Mondex's future operations and technologies. Mr. Keegan discusses the growing market for electronic commerce in Japan, and Mondex's current and planned activities in Japan.

  • "Motorola to the Macs StarMax"
An interview with Kevin Curry, the product marketing manager of the Mac OS section of the Motorola Computer Group. Mr. Curry discusses Motorola's Mac OS-compatible StarMax lineup of computers and Motorola's relationship with Apple as well Motorola's distribution strategies.

If you haven't been on the Computing Japan website recently, give us another look. We have a new homepage - one that is more visually attractive and makes it easier to find your way around our site. We're also working hard to improve the underlying structure of our hundreds of other pages; if you have comments and suggestions about the site or our content, please send them to cjmaster@cjmag.co.jp or editors@cjmag.co.jp.

The article by Louis Ross on Japan and the world telecommunications market, previously announced (June, page 34) for this issue, will instead appear in our August issue.
