Lexmark has released the Photo Jetprinter 5770, a high-performance printer for photo data. This is the first printer that can print data directly from digital cameras, with no need to connect the camera to a PC. Of course, it can also be used as a regular PC printer, and it has large data storage capacity. Communication Pal MT-200 from Sharp
Sharp has released Communication Pal MT-200, a personal mobile tool with Internet-access capability. It has a built-in keyboard and adapter for digital cellular phone, which allows users to access the Internet and e-mail wherever they like. With the accompanying pen, you can also send hand-written messages with special letter pads for e-mails. It also has an address book and schedule book function. ViewStation from Daito Electron

ViewStation, a group videoconferencing system, is manufactured by Polycom in the US and imported to Japan by Daito Electron. It is the first videoconferencing system to include an embedded Web server and Web-based integrated presentation system, providing a convenient way of displaying presentations from local or remote connections. Conforming to H.263 video standard, it delivers 15 frames per second at 128Kbps and 30fps at 384Kbps/ 512Kbps. The voice-tracking camera automatically focuses on the speaker while ignoring background noise for smooth meeting interactions. Compaq has released ARMADA 7800 Pro Model 3 Win NT 4.0, the newest version of Compaq's notebook PC for business use. It has the highest spec for a business notebook PC, with a Pentium II 300MHz processor, 8.0GB of hard disk, 14.1" TFT color display, and DVD-ROM as standard. Retail price for Model 3 is ¥748,000, and with this newest model coming out, Compaq is planning to lower the prices of other ARMADA 7800 Pro series up to 16%. Translation software, The Honyaku Professional V4.0 from Toshiba
Toshiba has released a new version of its translation software, The Honyaku Professional V4.0. The new version has Optical Character Recognition software, which makes translation of printed documents possible. Its dictionaries contain 240,000 words for English-to-Japanese, and 140,000 words for Japanese-to-English. New functions include "quick translation," whereby you get the translation just by pointing out some words or phrases with the mouse, and "translation memory," whereby the registered sentences can automatically be applied.
