INSTEAD OF ALL THE Recent worrying about slumping telecom, PC and other high-tech industries, why don't more entrepreneurs (and their investors) jump opportunistically on these slower times to file patent applications? Since it typically takes a few years for patent applications to issue, perhaps this is the best time to start the process of securing exclusive intellectual property rights, for example, in emerging broadband and genomic technologies, markets and related industry standards.
